No. 9 Spartans Set to Host Sharks in SSC Tournament Championship

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team will host the Nova Southeastern Sharks for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament final. 

The Matchup: Tampa Spartans (13-3, 9-1 SSC) vs. Nova Southeastern Sharks (12-3-2, 6-3-1 SSC)  

Date/Time: Thursday, November 14 at 1 p.m. 

Location: Pepin Stadium || Tampa, Fla. || 417 North Boulevard, Tampa, Fla. 33606  

About the Spartans: The Spartans are coming off a 2-1 comeback win over the Barry University Buccaneers. The Buccaneers struck first in the matchup scoring in the 39th minute off a header. Spartans forward Amgad Salah scored in the 57th minute off a cross from Travis Foster tying the game 1-1. Juancho Fernandez secured the win for the Spartans in the 79th minute by sliding the ball just past the Buccaneers keeper off a pass from Omar Thali. 

About the Sharks: The Sharks are heading to Tampa after defeating the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a dramatic win on Thursday. After trailing the Sailfish for majority of the match, Floris Van Nijnanten scored the equalizer for the Sharks in the 87th minute off a corner. Using their momentum, the Sharks would then score the game-winner just about two minutes later, a volley struck by Aleks Berg that found the back of the net, sending the Sharks to the final. 

All-Time Series: Spartans lead the all-time series 18-7-5, with the Spartans defeating the Sharks on the road 1-0. Omar Thali scoring early in the match with a penalty kick in the 3rd minute. 

Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Tampa regular season athletic events are $5. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge. Students and faculty/staff are admitted free with a valid UT ID.
