Women's Cross Country Runs at Lehigh and Ave Maria Races
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team competed in a pair of separate races on Saturday, sending runners to the Paul Short Race in Bethlehem, Pa., and the Ave Maria Invitational in Ave Maria, Fla.
At Paul Short Run
- Tampa competed in the Women's Gold 6K, running with the top tier.
- The Spartans finished 37th among a total of 42 schools.
- Emily Kriney led all Tampa runners with a time of 21:35.5 to place 123rd overall.
- She was followed by Lindsey Volkman, who was clocked at 22:00.8.
- Jessica Hernandez ran a 22:34.0.
- Also finishing in the Spartans top five were Tabitha Suggs (22:42.1) and Taylor Guthrie (22:48.9).
At Ave Maria Invitational
- The Spartans were fourth overall in a race that included 10 schools.
- The race was a 6K.
- Freshman Kara Bergeron finished inside the top-10 with a time of 23:34.06 to place ninth.
- Sophie Spinello (23:56.72) and Brooke Gable (23:59.19) finished 13th and 14th respectively.
- Emma Barcelona was 20th as she crossed the line at 24:37.82.
- Abbey Brende was in the Tampa top five as her time of 24:50.39 was good for 24th place.
Up Next
The Spartans travel to the Florida State Invitational on Friday, followed by the University of Alabama at Huntsville Invitational on Saturday.
