Schrenger and Rahn Each Awarded Conference Player of the Week
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa volleyball program has two student-athletes win Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week accolades. Tess Schrenger earns Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her Spartan career, while Connor Rahn collects Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time.
Schrenger led Tampa to a pair of Top-20 road wins following 37 kills over 10 sets and a .354 hitting percentage. The Louisville, Kentucky native began the week with a match-high 18 kills in 42 attempts with four errors in a 3-2 win at No. 4 Barry. Schrenger also provided the Spartans with eight digs and a pair of assists in the win. In a five-set victory at No. 19 Lynn, the senior tallied 19 kills in 40 attempts with four errors along with seven digs and three service aces. For the week, she averaged 3.70 kills, 4.10 points, and 1.50 digs per set.
Rahn was the top defensive player for Tampa during a pair of Top-20 road wins last week. In a 3-2 win at No. 4 Barry, the outside hitter led the Spartans in digs with 15, while also providing her team with a block. The Orange Park, Florida product followed with 13 digs in a five-set win at No. 19 Lynn. Rahn also proved her team with 30 kills, six assists, and two service aces across the two wins. The weekly award is her third this season.
