Tampa Jumps Three in Latest AVCA Ranking
LEXINGTON, Ky. - After ending the regular season 29-1, the University of Tampa volleyball team jumped three places in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) latest NCAA Division II poll to No. 2 in the nation.
The Sunshine State Conference champion team returns to the all-too-familiar position they held for six straight weeks spanning from Sept. 12 to Oct. 17.
Cal State San Bernardino remains the top squad while the national champion of the past four seasons, Concordia St. Paul holds the third place spot. The University of Nebraska -Kearney and Washburn round out the top five in the latest poll.
The Spartans are set to host the South Region Tournament beginning Thursday as UT holds the top seed and will face Kentucky State at 7 p.m.
The latest top five ranking continues Tampa's streak of 26 straight weeks while the team has been ranked in 215 straight releases, second only to Central Missouri, who currently hold the No. 6 ranking.
