Neely Thomson Recipient of 2008 Citigroup Student Ethics Award
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa volleyball player Neely Thomson has earned the 2008 Citigroup Student Ethics Award, which will be presented on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon will take place at the Vaughn Hall boardroom and will be attended by representatives from Citigroup.
The award, which is announced by the Center for Ethics at The University of Tampa, carries an annual Citigroup Student Ethics Award through the John H. Sykes College of Business. As the recipient, Thomson will earn a scholarship through Citigroup.
The Student Ethics Award, sponsored by Citigroup, recognizes an undergraduate student who exemplifies high ethical standards at the university, upholds social responsibility practices in the community and exhibits strong potential for professional success.
Thomson is a 3.4 GPA student, a member of the volleyball team and has been a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the past four years. She represents the Career Service department, where she is currently interning at the Student Government meetings.
The recent winner of the ESCOT Unsung Hero Award at UT, Thomson is also active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She takes her "little brother" for the day, two to three times a month. She has been active in all the community projects through SAAC for the last four years. Some of these projects include the Christmas project (raising $2,000 to buy Christmas presents for the students at Just Elementary and involved in raising $2,463 for the Make-A-Wish raffle last year. She also helps plan the Athletic Banquet at the end of every year.
