Spartans Well Represented on Daktronics South Region Team
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Erin Clark highlighted a record list of five University of Tampa volleyball players on the Daktronics all-South Region team. All five were named to the first-team as Clark was chosen as the South Region Player of the Year. Teammates Alisha Green, Katelen Dixon, Gabriela Saade and Margeaux Sinibaldi joined Clark on the first team.
UT dominated the team with five athletes. Barry, Florida Southern and USC-Aiken each had two members on the South Region team, while Wingate, Catawba and Tusculum each placed one on the team. The 2007 Division II Daktronics, Inc. Volleyball all-South Region team was selected by a vote from the region's sports information directors.
Clark, a senior middle hitter from Tampa, led all NCAA Division II hitters with a blistering .471 hitting percentage, while leading the Spartans to a 28-2 overall record and the Sunshine State Conference regular-season title.
Green finished the season second on the Spartan squad with a .406 hitting percentage and led the team with 0.70 blocks per game. Saade led the SSC and ranked 14th in the nation with 12.94 assists per game, while Dixon finished the season averaging 3.3 kills and 3.2 digs per game. Sinibaldi finished second in the SSC in digs per game.
The Spartans are set to host the 2007 NCAA Division II South Regional, beginning with an opening round meeting with USC-Aiken on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
