#2 Tampa Defeats Regis For First Win Of The Season
Tampa, Fla. - The second-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team registered its first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over visiting Regis (Colo.). The Spartans are now 1-0 on the season as the Rangers fall to 0-1. After winning the first two games of the match, Tampa dropped the third game before winning the fourth game.
The Spartans were led by senior Tarah Marinelli, who recorded a team-high 17 kills with a .324 attack percentage. Other Spartans with double figure kill totals were Katelen Dixon (12) and Erin Clark (11). Margeaux Sinibaldi led the Tampa defense with a match-high 27 digs. Gabriela Saade led Tampa with 38 assists.
Tampa, who had 16.5 total blocks, had a total of six players register at least one block. Erin Clark finished with eight total blocks, including two block solos. Danielle MacDonald had six blocks while redshirt freshman Alisha Green and Katelen Dixon had five apiece.
The Spartans are back in action tomorrow with a pair of matches. Tampa meets St. Edwards at 4 pm and Northern Kentucky at 8 pm.
