Allison Murphy Named SSC Sprinter of the Week
ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa women's track runner Allison Murphy was recognized as the first winner of the Sunshine State Conference Sprinter of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Murphy, a senior from Naugatuck, Conn., turned in three winning performances at the Tampa Spartans Open to open her 2026 outdoor campaign. She won the 400 hurdles in 1:01.53 and ran on both winning relays, helping the 4x100 to 47.83 and the 4x400 to 3:55.35. Her 400 Hurdles performance set a provisional mark as she currently ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division II in the event.
This marks the fourth time Murphy has won the SSC Sprinter of the Week honor, capturing it three times last season.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 16-22, 2026. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
