Bio
Life re-joins Tampa as its new assistant coach sprints and hurdles, following a brief tenure at Georgia State. In his inaugural season as a Spartan, 2024-2025, Life led the men’s team to six school records and a runner-up finish at the inaugural SSC Championship. Notably, the women’s team secured the SSC title, with sprinters and hurdlers collectively contributing over half of the team’s points. These accomplishments earned Life the DII South Region Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year recognition after his athletes achieved 77 all-time performances in a single season.
Prior to Tampa, Life served as an assistant coach for the Jacksonville University Dolphins cross-country and track programs for three seasons. Under the guidance of head coach Garman, Life’s leadership, dedication, and support were instrumental in the program’s most successful year to date. The men’s cross-country team maintained an above-average GPA of 3.4, raised $10,000 in fundraising, and shattered personal bests across all disciplines in comparison to previous seasons.
The men’s cross-country team consistently produced competitive scoring times throughout the season. Under the direction of Coach Vela (Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps), Life’s contributions led to two indoor Conference championships in the High Jump and Triple Jump. The Jumps team contributed 34 points, resulting in an overall score of 118 points (third) at the ASUN Conference Championship.
During the Outdoor season, his contributions led the team to a remarkable score of 125 points, securing the fourth place at the ASUN Outdoor Conference Championship. His presence was an invaluable asset to the Dolphin team and community throughout his tenure with the program.
In the 2022-2023 track and field season with the Dolphins, Life, alongside then interim Head Coach Vela, played a pivotal role in guiding JU’s sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers to achieve significant accomplishments. They collectively secured one two-time National All-American (HJ), three indoor conference championships, six outdoor conference championships, and four NCAA preliminary qualifiers.
Life served as a volunteer coach under the guidance of Coach Vela and Griggs, where his contributions resulted in one athlete qualifying for the U.S. Olympics Trials 2021 (triple jump), one Second Team All-American (high jump), and three NCAA Outdoor National Championships qualifiers.
