Tampa Swimming to Host Four-Day Spartan Invite

Event will feature a total of six schools.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams will host the annual Spartan Invitational from December 15-18 at The Doyle Aquatic Center at the Long Center in Clearwater.

The event will begin on Friday with the timed finals at 5:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday's competition will begin with the prelims at 9:30 am, followed by the finals at 6:00 pm. The final day, Monday will feature the prelims at 9:30 am with the finals scheduled for 5:00 pm.

In addition to Tampa, other schools competing are Florida Southern College, Indian River State College, Nova Southeastern University, Rice University (women) and Saint Leo University.

Individual events will be scored as the following (A & B finals only): 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Relay events will score as follows (A & B finals only): 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2.

All spectators will be charged $5 per session for admissions. Heat sheets will be included in the cost. There will not be any all-session passes available.

Fans may also follow live through the Meet Mobile app, which offers live scoring of each event in addition to updated team scores. The app is available for free download on iOS and Android app stores. There are in-app charges to access live results.

The Doyle Aquatic Center is a 10-lane 50 meter x 20 lane 25-yard pool that varies in depth from 12-feet at the start end to four feet at the turn end. A separate three lane 25-yard pool will be available for continuous warm-up and warm-down throughout the meet. The meet will be swum in a single eight-lane 25-yard course for both the preliminary and finals sessions.

There is permanent bleacher seating available for 294 people along with an additional standing room only section directly behind the bleachers for viewing the competition. Colorado Timing System will be used in conjunction with Hy-Tek software.
