Pair of UT Swimmers Recognized with National Honors
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa swimmers Alex Hetland and Dana Glodek were recognized as the men's and women's Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week. Both swimmers helped UT defeat Florida Southern in the 2008-09 opener.
Hetland, a native of Oslo, Norway, helped his team defeat Florida Southern 140-105. Hetland won the 200 Breaststroke (2:13.72) and the 100 Breaststroke (55.61 - NCAA 'A' Qualifying Time). The senior also contributed to the 200 medley relay (1:40.64) and he lead off the exhibition 200 freestyle relay (1:28.45).
Glodek, who hails from Norristown, Pa., aided her team in a 147-80 victory over Florida Southern with her win in the 200 butterfly (2:07.40-under last year's A cut) and her assistance on the winning 200 medley relay (1:56.54). With the outcome of the meet well in hand, the freshman exhibitioned the 100 butterfly (59.07) and 200 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY (2.14.57-under last year's B cut), posting times that would have won both events.
