Tampa Opens Season With Pair of Victories Over Florida Southern

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each registered victories over Florida Southern College to begin the 2008-09 season. UT's men won by a score of 140-105 and the women were victorious by a 147-80 mark.

Aleksander Hetland captured the 100 Breast while Dana Glodek took the 200 Fly and Chris Olinger the 500 Free to pace the Spartans.

The Spartans won eight of the 14 events and also claimed the top three spots in six events on the men's side.

In the women's race, Tampa won the first 10 events and took the top three places in seven of the races.

UT is back in action on Fri., Oct. 24, when it hosts Savannah College at 3:30 p.m.
