No. 22 Spartans Welcome In Mocs

TAMPA, Fla. - The no.22 University of Tampa Spartans are gearing up to take on the Mocs of Florida Southern Wednesday night for a Sunshine State Conference midweek matchup.

Tampa comes into the game with a 5-1-1 mark and 1-1 in SSC play. Last time out for the Spartans they outlasted a tenacious Palm Beach Atlantic team winning 4-3. Florida Southern enters the matchup 1-4-1, and a tally of 1-1 in the conference play. The Mocs are coming off back to back losses falling to Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd.

Offensively, UT presents a well-balanced attack. The 14 goal tallied thus far in the campaign have come from six different Spartans. Cici Gonzalez leads al scorers with five goals. Following Gonzalez is newcomer Nastasia Asgedom with three goals of her own. Asgedom sets the tone offensively as she leads the team with four assists. Also scoring for Tampa is Gabby Scirica, Korey O'Rourke, Lauren Cicero, and Lauren Moore and will look to add to their totals. The Spartans come into the game dominating possession and scoring opportunities out shooting opponents 108-89 and posting a .519 shots on goal %.

Defensively, the Spartans are led by Audrey Hayward and Miranda Gonzalez, along with a group of very talented defenders set the tone for Tampa. UT has limited opposing team's opportunities and held over 55% of the possession in all games played to this point in the season. The aggressive hard nosed play style is what helps their side control the pace of the match.
