Alan Berrios Accepts Director of Soccer Position at Arizona Christian University
PHOENIX - Arizona Christian University has announced that former University of Tampa assistant women's soccer coach Alan Berrios has been hired as its new Director of Soccer. With this new position, Berrios will be the new face of Firestorm soccer and serve as the head coach for both the men's and women's teams.
"We are delighted for Alan in his new endeavor and wish him the best of luck," says UT head coach Gerry Lucey. "I'm confident that Alan will be very successful at ACU and help move their program to greater heights. Alan has helped build our program over the past four years and was instrumental in bringing in many of our players. ACU have recruited a quality new director of soccer and a fantastic individual too."
Berrios served the last four seasons as an assistant coach at UT. Before arriving at the University of Tampa, Berrios served as the Director of Soccer Operations for the University of South Florida's women's soccer team from 2010-11 and brings over 13 years of coaching experience to ACU. Berrios has also been running sessions at Christ's Church of the Valley for two months now and was recently given the 00 Girls Black Team. He also trains the 03 girls.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Berrios was born and raised in Paterson, N.J. Berrios served in the United States Naval Reserve as a Boatswains Mate - Petty Officer 2nd class. Berrios was a standout soccer player at Bergen County Community College in Paramus, N.J. He graduated from Dover Business College in Paramus, N.J., with a technical diploma. Berrios served as a Brandon FC Head/Staff Coach for 11 years from (2002-13), and USF Camp Staff Coach (2010-13). He was also a Brandon FC Board Member (2008-2010).
