TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over visiting Queens (N.Y.) College (1-4) on Sunday at Pepin Stadium.
Freshman Cina Salemi broke free to connect on the lone goal of the contest, coming from Jazmin Perry and classmate Andrea Arnone. The 72nd minute goal was also the first of Salemi's young career.
The Spartans grabbed quick control in the second half, outshooting the Knights 10-3 in the final period. For the game, Tampa held a 14-4 advantage on shots, including an 8-0 differential in shots on goal.
Freshman Leah Cesanek notched her third career shutout in goal, playing all 90 minutes for head coach Gerry Lucey's squad.
Tampa travels to Columbus, Ga., where it will meet Tusculum College on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Lander University on Sunday at 11 a.m.
