Tampa Rowing Among Top Teams at SIRA Championships
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Tampa women's rowing team turned in a strong weekend of racing at the SIRA Regatta, held April 18–19 at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, highlighted by a win in the women's pair and multiple top-five finishes against a deep championship field.
The Spartans' top result came in the women's 2- pair, where Sofia Daddona and Paige Rockwood captured first place with a winning time of 9:06.7, securing a conference championship victory for Tampa.
Tampa also earned a podium finish in the women's varsity 4+, placing third overall. The Spartan boat of Jenna Manning, Lilli Cavanaugh, Rowan Shanahan, and Eve Mundok, with Kyleigh Thorne serving as coxswain, crossed the line in 7:49.6 to finish among the top crews of the regatta.
In the women's 2x, Tampa placed fourth, as Kierstyn Dupriest and Lily Fridl finished in 8:59.4, narrowly missing a podium spot. The Spartans also recorded a fourth-place finish in the women's novice 4+, with Analei Frank, Danielle Eaton, Siena Webb, and Chloe Reganato, coxed by Olivia Ice, posting a time of 8:39.7.
Tampa rounded out its weekend in the lightweight four, where the Spartan crew of McKenna VanOveren, Malina Wandtke, Sarah Voss, and Bliss Weiler, with Christina Kilduff as coxswain, finished seventh in 8:16.1.
