Spartans Have Sights Set On Championship Repeat
SALEM, Va. – In what will be a rematch of the 2024 NCAA National Championship game, Tampa is seeking to become the first back-to-back D-II national champion since 2015 when they face Adelphi on Saturday.
The Matchup: No. 1 University of Tampa (20-1, 6-1 SSC) vs. No. 3 Adelphi (19-3, 9-1 NE10)

Series History: Believe it or not, the first metting between the two sides came in 2023. Tampa owns the head to head battle with an overall record of 3-1. The two team's squared off earlier this season in Tampa at Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex which saw the Spartans win in dominant fashion. This will be the second time ever that the two program's play in what will be a neutral site contest, with the first coming in last years NCAA title match.
About the Spartans: Tampa is set to make its second consecutive NCAA National Championship appearance after making its first ever as a program in 2024. The defending National Champions will face Adelphi, a rematch of the 2024 title game. The Spartans defeated the University of Indianapolis on Thursday posting the program's first ever 20 win season. Tampa is on a 10 game win streak and has an offense that ranks fifth in the nation in scoring. 10 players have scored double-digit numbers for the Spartans, while Peyton Howell, Sarah Engle, Mary Kate Person, and Sophi Wrisk have all recorded thirty-plus goals.
About the Panthers: After making its 17th appearance in the NCAA Final Four, Adelphi will make its 12th trip to the NCAA National Championship. The Panthers defeated Slippery Rock, 15-13 on Thursday evening to extend its winning streak to 12 straight. Ashley Kolomechuk and Marielle Colalillo were standouts as the pair combined for eight goals in the win. The program looks to avenge last year's championship game defeat and will play for the program's 10th national championship on Saturday at Kerr Stadium.
