GAMEDAY ADVANCE: #15 Tampa begins conference play against St. Leo

TAMPA, Fla – The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team begin conference play in their first matchup against St. Leo University.

The Matchup: #15 University of Tampa (4-5) vs. St. Leo University (4-7)

Date/Time: Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

Location: Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. 1120 West North A Street, Tampa, FL 33606

Series History: Tampa is currently on a six game win streak against St. Leo and leading the series 6-2. The largest margin of victory in the series is seven points which happened on April 22, 2017 with a final score of 13-6.

About the Spartans: The Spartans come into the game off of a dominant performance against Lander University. Madison Birch and Sarah Hinkle led that game with five goals each. The Spartans set a record that matchup with the most goals scored this season with 25 goals with 10 of them coming in the first quarter. Tampa looks to snatch the win and keep the momentum going while extending their win streak against St. Leo.

About the Lions: The Lions enter this matchup with their first SSC win of the season against Lynn University. After halftime the Lions caught a surge which secured their victory over Lynn. Fiona Mclaughlin led the way with six goals and Lia Lamendola led their attack with a career-high of eight points. With this, St. Leo seeks to carry their energy into the matchup against Tampa looking for their second conference win.
