Brictson, Toennessen Lead Spartans into Fourth After Round One of NCAA South Regional
CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of Tampa women's golf team opened the 2026 NCAA Division II South Regional on Monday with a strong showing, sitting fourth overall at +13 after the first round at Cleveland Country Club.
The Spartans trail Lynn (+6), while Wingate and Erskine are tied for second at +11. Tampa holds a narrow edge over Anderson (SC) and Barry, who are tied for fifth at +14.
The tournament is being contested May 4–6 on the par-72 layout at Cleveland Country Club, with 54 holes scheduled. The top teams at the conclusion of play will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Brictson, Toennessen Pace Spartans
Tampa placed two golfers inside the top 15 after Round 1, led by Kat Brictson and Ruth Toennessen, who each carded a 74 (+2) to sit tied for 10th overall. Their performances kept the Spartans firmly in contention entering Round 2.
Balanced Lineup Fuels Opening Round
The Spartans showcased depth across the lineup, with Kelly Shanahan posting a 76 (+4) to sit tied for 23rd. Maria Mora added a 77 (+5), while Justine Bayle recorded a 79 (+7) to round out Tampa's scoring effort.
Tampa's four counting scores all landed within the top 40, underscoring the team's consistency against a nationally ranked field.
