Spartans Close Strong to Finish Fourth at Lynn Invitational
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team put together a strong closing round to finish fourth (+36) at the Lynn Invitational, held March 30–31 at Boca Woods Country Club.
The Spartans posted a 900 team total (312–295–293), climbing the leaderboard on the final day behind their best round of the tournament.
The three‑round event, played on the 6,272‑yard, par‑72 layout at Boca Woods, featured a nationally loaded field including No. 2 DBU, No. 9 Nova Southeastern, No. 8 Lynn, No. 6 Barry, No. 15 Tampa, No. 17 St. Mary's (TX), No. 14 Florida Southern, No. 21 Saint Leo, and No. 1 Keiser.
Toennessen Fires Final‑Round 69 to Lead Tampa
Ruth Toennessen delivered Tampa's top individual performance, closing with a 3‑under 69 to move up the leaderboard and finish T11 at +8 (77–78–69). Her final round was one of the lowest scores recorded in the entire field and highlighted Tampa's late tournament surge.
Spartans Rally on Final Day
Tampa shaved 19 strokes off its opening‑round score over the final two rounds, climbing from early contention into a top‑four finish against one of the strongest fields of the spring.
Kelly Shanahan joined Toennessen inside the top 15, while the Spartans placed four golfers inside the top 25, showcasing depth across the lineup.

T11. Ruth Toennessen – 224 (+8). Rounds: 77, 78, 69 (–3). Toennessen paced Tampa with a standout closing round.
T14. Kelly Shanahan – 225 (+9). Rounds: 77, 73, 75. Shanahan delivered consistent scoring in all three rounds.
T24. Justine Bayle – 228 (+12). Rounds: 78, 75, 75. Bayle remained steady throughout the event.
T24. Kat Brictson – 228 (+12). Rounds: 83, 71, 74. Brictson rebounded with a strong second round and solid finish.
T34. Maria Mora – 231 (+15). Rounds: 80, 76, 75. Mora closed with her lowest score of the tournament.
Individual – Annie Betts – 245 (+29). Rounds: 83, 78, 84. Betts competed individually for the Spartans.
