Spartans Play With Top Teams at NSU Invitational
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's golf team played to a 16th-place finish against some of the nation's top NCAA Division II teams at the Nova Southeastern University Guy Harvey Invitational.
The Spartans finished with a total score of 690 in two rounds at PGA National Palmer Course. UT registered scores of 337 and 353. Lynn University won the team title with a score of 581. The event featured a total of seven Sunshine State Conference schools, including the top three of Lynn, Rollins and Florida Tech.
UT was led by senior Jenee Vanderstyne, who recorded rounds of 85 and 87 to finish in 73rd place with a 172. The Spartan lineup also featured Grace Marie Schian (173), Fatin Amin (174), Grace Ziamandanis (174) and Robin Manarik (176).
The top overall round for Tampa came from Amin, who shot an 82 in Monday's opening round. Vanderstyne, Schian and Ziamandanis each fired an 85 in round one.
UT is back in action on Oct. 21-22 at the Saint Leo Invitational. The event will be played at Lake Jovita Golf Course and hosted by fellow Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo University.
