Women’s Golf Completes Program’s First Tournament
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's golf team competed in the program's first-ever tournament as it finished fifth overall at the Start2Finish Webber Classic at Lake Wales Country Club.
The first event came just under five months from the creation of the women's golf program, which was announced on Sept. 21, 2010. Head coach Missey Jones' squad consisted of six members who finished with a two-round score of 868.
Kara Flando led the Spartans with a 200, opening play with a first round score of 99. She finished 38th overall. Kirsten Dwyer, Kelsey Abert, Sara Biron, Chloe Campbell and Alexa Sokolowski were also a part of the inaugural team's first event.
Tampa returns to action on Monday when it travels to Lakeland for the Florida Southern Invitational.
