2014 SSC Women’s Basketball Championship Schedule Announced
Tampa enters tourney as top seed.
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Women's Basketball) - The pairings have been solidified for the 2014 Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Championship. The tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 5 and conclude on Sunday, March 9 with the championship game.
Tampa (21-5, 14-2 SSC) won the regular-season conference title and earned the No. 1 seed. The Spartans will play their first game on Saturday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinal round.
The rest of the seeds are as follows: No. 2 Rollins (23-5, 12-4 SSC), No. 3 Nova Southeastern (22-4, 12-4 SSC), No. 4 Saint Leo (18-8, 9-7 SSC), No. 5 Barry (16-10, 8-8 SSC), No. 6 Florida Tech (16-12, 7-9 SSC), No. 7 Lynn (11-15, 4-12 SSC), No. 8 Eckerd (11-15, 4-12 SSC), No. 9 Florida Southern (7-19, 2-14 SSC).
Rollins and Nova Southeastern both finished the season at 12-4 in conference play. Rollins went 1-1 against top-seeded Tampa during the regular season, while Nova Southeastern went 0-2 against the Spartans to give the Tars the No. 2 seed and the Sharks the No. 3 seed.
Lynn and Eckerd both finished the season at 4-12 in conference action. Both teams went a combined 0-10 against the top five seeds. Lynn swept No. 6 Florida Tech during the regular season, and Eckerd went 1-1 against the Panthers to give the Fighting Knights the No. 7 seed and the Tritons the No. 8 spot.
The women's championship will begin with No. 4 Saint Leo facing No. 7 Lynn at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. No. 5 Barry and No. 6 Florida Tech will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday to conclude the first day of the women's tournament. The winners will advance to play on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. for a chance to face the No. 1 seeded Tampa Spartans on Saturday in the semifinal round.
On Thursday, March 6, No. 2 Rollins and No. 9 Florida Southern will square off at 2:30 p.m. No. 3 Nova Southeastern and No. 8 Eckerd will tip off at 7:30 p.m. The winners of each game will meet in the other semifinal round game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Those wishing to attend the games at Silver Spurs Arena can
purchase tickets at the box office window. General admission
tickets are available for $10 each day. New this year, court level
premium seating will be available at a limited quantity for $20.
One ticket will give one person admittance to an entire day, but
there is a no re-entry policy in place. If spectators leave arena,
they must purchase another ticket.
