Spartans Spear Sailfish
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (13-5) women's basketball team dominated the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish (7-15) by a score of 85-61 on Wednesday evening at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
The Spartans got off to a slow start until the 13 minute mark in the first half, when they went on a 20-6 run over a six minute span to go up by 16. Tampa's offense exploded in the first half, putting up 51 points and shooting a scorching 69 percent from the field.
The Spartans took over the game with a double digit advantage over the Sailfish going into the second half up 51-36. The Spartans added six points off of Palm Beach turnovers in the first half, clearing UT to increase the lead.
Tampa continued its dominance in the second half scoring almost
all of their points in the paint. Both Illyssa Vivo
and Taylor McVey ended the game with 17 points, with Keke Jones
following close behind with 15 points and six
rebounds. Both Juliana Cavallaro and Ellen Nurmi
contributed 11 points apiece for the Spartans.
