Spartan Women’s Basketball Edge Mocs on Senior Night

TAMPA, Fla. - With a rivalry game on senior night, the University of Tampa women's basketball team edged Florida Southern College 49-45. The win puts Tampa at 17-8 on the season with a 7-8 record in Sunshine State Conference matchups while the visiting Mocs drop to 10-15 (4-11 SSC).

The lone Spartan senior Moriah Hodge led the floor with 10 rebounds on the night. The forward tallied six points to go along with a steal and a block.

Guard Shamika Williams led the scoring attack, tallying 12 points while shooting 6-for-6 in her free throws.

Mocs guard Melanie Ducott totaled 25 points to lead both teams as her offensive outburst fell short in the UT victory.

Tampa outrebounded FSC 37 boards to 26, while the Spartan bench contributed 20 points to the Mocs four.

The Spartans head to Melbourne, Fla. for their final game of the season Saturday Mar. 2nd. The conference matchup is set to begin at 2 p.m. with live stats being made available through www.tampaspartans.com.
