Shamika Williams Earns Weekly SSC Honor
ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa junior guard Shamika Williams has been selected Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, presented by VALIC.
Williams (Baltimore, Md.) led the Spartans to a pair of road victories at UC San Diego's Thanksgiving Classic. Williams tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, and an assist in a 62-49 victory over Cal State San Bernardino. She then posted 19 points, nine boards, and three steals in a 71-66 double overtime win over host UCSD. Williams concluded the week by averaging 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 assists per game. She shot a solid 62 percent (13-for-21) from the field, while connecting on 50 percent of her three-pointers (3-for-6) and free throws (4-for-8).
