Spartans To Meet Barry In Opening Round Of NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS - Following a successful campaign that saw The University of Tampa women's basketball team capture the regular season title in the Sunshine State Conference en route to compiling a 25-4 record, the Spartans have earned a fifth straight berth in the NCAA tournament and will be the fourth seed in the 2010 NCAA South Regional. UT will face fellow conference opponent Barry in the opening round on Friday.
The bid marks the eighth NCAA tournament appearance in UT women's basketball history and the sixth under eighth-year head coach Tom Jessee.
This year's tournament will be hosted by top-seeded Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark.
The winner of the Tampa/Barry game will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Arkansas Tech and No. 8 seed Benedict in the regional semifinals on Saturday.
