Tampa Sits Third In Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Tampa women's basketball team jumped up to the No. 3 position in the latest NCAA regional rankings, the Division II Women's Basketball Committee announced Wednesday. The Spartans had been holding down the fourth spot for several weeks.

The regional rankings are used for seeding for the upcoming NCAA national tournament. The top eight teams will make the postseason.

The Sunshine State Conference is represented well in the poll as Rollins and Florida Southern join UT in the top eight as the two schools are ranked fifth and seventh respectively. Barry and Lynn are on the bubble as the ninth and 10th teams in this week's release.

The full NCAA tournament field will be announced Sunday, Mar. 7.
