All-American Gwen McGinnis Earns D2CCA National Pitcher of Year Honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – University of Tampa softball standout Gwen McGinnis has been named the 2026 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Ron Lenz National Pitcher of the Year and a First Team D2CCA All-American, the organization announced Wednesday.

McGinnis becomes one of the top national award winners in program history and adds another prestigious honor to an already decorated senior campaign after leading the Spartans to the NCAA South Region final in 2026.

The senior right-handed pitcher posted a 26-6 record with a Division II-leading 0.97 earned run average across 195.2 innings pitched this season. McGinnis totaled 22 complete games, 12 shutouts, and three saves while striking out 155 batters and limiting opponents to a .200 batting average.

McGinnis led the Sunshine State Conference in victories and saves en route to earning SSC Pitcher of the Year honors. Earlier this season, she threw a six-inning perfect game in an 8-0 victory at Palm Beach Atlantic on March 21.

The Ron Lenz Pitcher of the Year award is presented annually to the top pitcher in NCAA Division II softball. McGinnis was joined nationally by West Texas A&M second baseman Jordyn De Los Santos, who earned Ron Lenz Player of the Year honors.

McGinnis highlighted a strong showing for the Sunshine State Conference on the national teams, as Florida Tech first baseman Emma Chisholm and Eckerd utility player Hannah Taylor also earned All-America recognition.
