Gwen McGinnis Named South Region Pitcher of the Year

TAMPA, Fla. – University of Tampa softball standout Gwen McGinnis has been named the 2026 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) South Region Pitcher of the Year while also earning first-team all-region honors.

Gwen McGinnis anchored the Tampa pitching staff throughout the 2026 season as one of the top arms in the Sunshine State Conference. The right-hander compiled a 19-5 record with a 0.97 ERA across 38 appearances and 22 starts, totaling 144.0 innings while striking out 161 batters and limiting opponents to a .200 batting average. McGinnis recorded 12 complete games and helped guide the Spartans to a 36-14 overall record and a 21-9 mark in SSC play.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors from institutions across the region. Student-athletes selected to the first team advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
