Location: Naimoli Field l Tampa, FL.

Final Game One: Tampa 4, Eckerd 0
Final Game Two: Tampa 0, Eckerd 1
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE:
If Tampa was fazed by the late schedule shift, it did not show at all at the beginning of the game. The Spartans quickly jumped out to a lead by putting three runs on the board in the first inning through a Joey Trawick two-run single and Hannah Yetter knocking in a run off a fielder's choice. The Spartans had a chance to add more with the bases loaded and only one out, but were unable to add onto what had already been a great inning. However, the Spartans would find another run in the second inning to extend there lead to 4-0 after just two innings. Gwen McGinnis got the start for the Spartans, and she would deliver another stellar performance where Eckerd would struggle to generate much offense. The best chance for the Tritons came in the fifth when they loaded the bases with two outs, but they were ultimately unable to capitalize on that opportunity. This would prove to be their only chance as McGinnis would shut down any hint of a comeback in the final two innings.
INSIDE THE STATS:
-
McGinnis - 7.0 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 1 SO, 2 BB
- Trawick - 1-3, 2 RBI (13), R, SB (1)
-
Cam Feast - 2-3, 2 R, BB, SB (7)
-
Yetter - 1-3, RBI (7)
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO:
Game two of the doubleheader and the series followed a script that Tampa has become all too familiar with as this season has gone along, and that is a pure pitchers' duel. This time though, Koda Travers was the one with the ball for the Spartans. Travers was spinning an absolute gem, allowing only two baserunners through the first six innings, and working on what would be the best start of her young career. The Spartan offense was having trouble scoring as well though despite recording more baserunners than the Tritons. Tampa had two big chances to score. The first coming in the fifth inning when they stranded a runner at third base, and then another in the sixth when there was a runner in scoring position with only one out. However, these chances went untaken, as we arrived in the seventh inning with no score. This is when the Tritons took advantage of getting only their second chance with a runner on second as they would take the 1-0 lead late. Tampa would get the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh, but ultimately come up short of finding the tying run.
