Spartans Win Twice; Go Unbeaten in Eagle Classic
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa Softball team closed out an undefeated run at the Eagle Classic with wins over Southern Wesleyan and Georgia College.

History: Today's games mark Tampa's first meeting with Southern Wesleyan and the 4th all time meeting with Georgia College (Tampa has a 4-0 record)
Game One Final vs. Southern Wesleyan: #2 Tampa 4, Southern Wesleyan 2

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE vs. Southern Wesleyan:
Tampa would open as the visiting team for the first time this season depsite the game being played on a neutral field. However, Tampa would once again fall behind early, allowing two runs in the first inning. The Spartans would regroup, though it would take until the sixth inning for the Spartans to tie the game at two. Tampa once again found their way into a tie game in the seventh, and once again the Spartans would strike as Makiah Brumbelow-Neal and Karlee Salisbury would hit back-to-back RBI extra base hits to give the Spartans a two run lead. In the circle during this comeback was Holly Steffus. Steffus shined in her second Spartan appearance, coming in at the end of the first and dominating the Warrior hitters through the end of the game allowing only one hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO vs. Georgia College:
The scoring would hold off in this one until the third inning, and it would be the Spartans to strike first with an RBI single from Aubrey Zechmann with Brumbelow adding on a couple batters later. With Gwen McGinnis in the circle, the Spartans weren't likely to need too many runs, but Zechmann and Neupaver would both get an RBI to give the Spartans a 4-0 buffer. In the sixth inning, Joey Trawick would smack a two run double to give the Spartans a six run lead late in the game. McGinnis would close out another complete game in the seventh, and despite giving up a second run, would finish off a comfortable Tampa victory.
