Gwen McGinnis Presented as SSC Pitcher of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - After helping the top-ranked University of Tampa softball team to a series victory over Saint Leo University, Gwen McGinnis has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.

McGinnis earns Pitcher of the Week following nine innings of scoreless softball against No. 11 Saint Leo. The Tallahassee, Fla., product began the week with a seven-inning complete-game shutout, allowing five hits, no walks, and striking out two batters in UT's 1-0 win. McGinnis appeared in relief during game three, earning the save after tossing two innings, allowing a hit and no walks.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 24 - 30, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
