The No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans Softball team, swept Barry this past weekend and will host the biggest SSC series of the year as No. 11 Saint Leo travels into town.

SSC Teams with National Rankings: #1 Tampa, #11 Saint Leo

Tampa

• The Spartans keep on rolling after sweeping Barry this weekend. They improve their winning streak to 14 straight, their overall record to 35-2 (back-to-back seasons with 30+ wins), their conference record to 23-1, and an undefeated 20-0 record at Naimoli Family Softball Field. They sit alone at the top of the SSC and now the NFCA rankings for the second consecutive week as the new No. 1 in the nation after the recent NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll was released earlier today. Tampa will host a powerhouse SSC series this upcoming weekend. Saint Leo will take the short trip to Tampa for a 3-game series starting on Friday at 6:00 P.M. The Spartans will clinch as the regular season SSC champs if they take 2 of 3 from the Lions.

Saint Leo

• The Lions are right behind the Spartans in the SSC standings with an overall record of 39-7 and 20-4 in conference play. They are second in the SSC and No. 11 in the nation. The Lions are coming off a sweep against Eckerd this past weekend and are looking to play spoiler in Tampa.
