Tampa Takes First Road Game of the Season Behind Galhouse's Dominating Pitching Performance

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 3 University of Tampa softball team win their first road game of the year behind Mariah Galhouse's fantastic pitching performance.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Final: #3 Tampa 2, Embry-Riddle 0

Records:  Tampa Spartans 9-0 (4-0 SSC), Embry-Riddle Eagles 10-8 (2-2 SSC)

Location: Radiology Associates Field | Daytona Beach, FL.

All-time Series: Tampa have won 4 straight and 9 of their last 10 over Embry-Riddle improving their all-time record to 15-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Stephanie Balmer put the first run up on the board after getting a hold of one to left field to lead off the inning. Top 3 | 1-0 Tampa
• After a Lexie Chevalier single and a 2-out walk by Caroline Watson to put a runner in position, Balmer looked to drive in a few more runs; however, she just missed doing damage and flew out to center field. Mid 4 | 1-0 Tampa
• After a Mariah Galhouse hit by a pitch and a Kate DeSimone single, the Spartans were in striking distance. Watson would come up to the plate and slap a single to left field for a massive insurance run for the Spartans. Top 6 | 2-0 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Senior Galhouse continues her dominance in the circle. She went all 7.0 innings, striking out 5 while allowing just 3 hits and no walks.
• Tampa left 8 on base.
• The Spartans had 1 error compared to the Eagles' 2.
• Galhouse threw 76% percent of her pitches for strikes.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Watson 1 RBI.
• Balmer 1 RBI.

UP NEXT: Tampa will return to the diamond tomorrow as they take on Embry-Riddle at 12:00 & 2:00 P.M. to close out the weekend series.
