Kayla Cox and Meagan Burke Score Academic All-America Honors

TOWSON, Md. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division II Softball Team on Wednesday. Tampa's Kayla Cox was named to the first team, while teammate Meagan Burke was named to the third team.

Cox earned her second appearance on the Capital One Academic All-America team following a third-team selection in 2013. The communications major was recently named Daktronics Division II South Region Pitcher of the Year for the second season in a row. During the 2014 campaign, she posted an 18-3 record with a 0.84 ERA and 16 complete games. Cox struck out 210 batters and walked just 38 in 159 innings of work.

Burke, a pre-med major, earns her second academic All-America award of the 2013-14 academic year. On December 11, 2014, she was also named to the volleyball Capital One Academic All-America Third Team.
