Meagan Burke Earns SSC Softball Honor

ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa dual-sport star Meagan Burke has been named the Sunshine State Conference Softball Player of the Week, as announced Monday by commissioner Jay Jones.

The freshman first baseman from Jacksonville, Fla., batted .714 with three runs and three RBI in No. 19 Tampa's conference sweep over Saint Leo.

Burke hit safely in all three games of the series and reached based in 75 percent of her at-bats. Her most impressive outing came in a 3-0 win in the opener, as she went 3-for-3 with a triple and a home run.

Also a starter on the UT volleyball team, Burke posted a 1.429 slugging percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage in three contests.
