UT Moves Up Two Spots In National Rankings
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The University of Tampa softball team continues to climb the national ranks as the squad moved up two spots in the NFCA Division II poll, claiming the No. 12 showing as released in the latest poll.
Currently 38-7, Tampa opened the season with a school record 12 consecutive victories while also setting a record for the best start in program history going 15-1.
Tampa concluded its regular season with a sweep of Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College in a three game series in St. Petersburg, Fla. to edge its way up in the SSC standings in hopes to capture a spot in the NCAA South Regional.
Tampa is one of four NCAA South Region teams as Alabama-Huntsville (1), Valdosta State (4) and Rollins (5) also appear in the top-25. Fellow SSC opponent Barry is also listed as receiving votes in the current installment.
UT currently holds the No. 3 position in the NCAA South Region. The tournament selections will be made on May 10 at 10 a.m. with play beginning May 13.
