UT Maintains National Ranking
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The University of Tampa softball team continues its reign in the national softball rankings, coming in at No. 18 in the NFCA Division II poll, which was released on Wednesday.
Currently 32-7, Tampa posted its best start in school history and has also set the program record with 12 consecutive victories this season.
Last week the Spartans knocked Barry University out of the Sunshine State Conference driver's seat with a series victory while taking two of the three games from the Buccaneers.
Tampa is one of four NCAA South Region teams as Alabama-Huntsville (1), Valdosta State (4) and Rollins (5) also appear in the top-25. Arkansas-Monticello, another South Region team, is receiving votes in the latest release.
The Spartans will host SSC rival Florida Southern College in its final homestand of the 2011 regular season. The series will begin on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at1 p.m. Saturday will also be Senior Day, with six UT players being honored between games.
