Spartans Defeat SSC Frontrunner Barry As Henriott Rewrites Record Books
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (31-6, 12-4 SSC) softball team defeated Barry University (28-8, 14-2 SSC) in the opening game of the series. Tampa took down the Buccaneers by a score of 4-0.
Deanna Henriott started for the Spartans, improving her record to 20-4. She hurled 7.0 innings of shutout softball while striking out nine and allowing six hits. Needing just four strikeouts to match Devlin Dougherty's UT career strikeout record, Henriott passed the mark and now stands at734 on her UT career.
Katlyn Raatz led the Spartans on offense with two base hits and one run scored. Susan Jallo, Brittany Hipple, and Elizabeth Milhan contributed a base knock each. Brittany Joseph, Cassie Barnes, and Milhan each drove in a run.
