Becky Vyzas Earns Daktronics All-Region Honors
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - University of Tampa softball player Becky Vyzas was the lone Spartan to be named to the 2009 Daktronics All-South Region Softball Team.
The freshman catcher from Tampa finished the season as the team's top hitter, logging a .386 average. While starting all 41 games, she also led UT in hits (44), home runs (five), RBIs (24), doubles (eight), triples (six) and walks (16).
Vyzas also turned in an excellent season on defense as she registered a team high 268 putouts to go with 15 assists. She also threw out seven opposing baserunners while recording a .990 fielding percentage.
