Deanna Henriott Named First Team All-Conference As Kallan Casey Also Honored
ORLANDO, Fla. - Deanna Henriott became the first University of Tampa pitcher in eight years to be named first-team all-Sunshine State Conference. Center fielder Kallan Casey was also named to the second team as the SSC announced 26 student-athletes to its 2009 All-Sunshine State Conference Softball Team.
Voting for the all-conference team was conducted among the league's softball coaches and sports information directors.
Henriott, a sophomore from St. Petersburg, leads UT in every pitching category while ranking second in the SSC with 254 strikeouts in 182.0 innings. She is 18-9 with a 1.27 ERA while throwing nine shutouts with four saves. While starting 23 games, Henriott has recorded 20 complete games. This marks the second time Henriott has received all-SSC honors as she was a second-team choice as a freshman.
Casey, a senior who hails from Safety Harbor, is hitting .302 while starting all 39 games for the Spartans. She is the team leader with eight doubles and has also notched three home runs and 20 RBIs. Her play in center field has also been stellar as she has registered seven outfield assists.
