Krystal Crooks Earns SSC Honor
ORLANDO, Fla. - A pair of victories over nationally-ranked teams has led to University of Tampa pitcher Krystal Crooks being named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Crooks joins teammate Devlin Dougherty as Spartans to win the weekly award this season after Dougherty garnered the award on February 11.
Crooks, a junior from Tampa by way of the University of Southern Mississippi, picked up wins over nationally-ranked Florida Southern (#2) and Barry (#16). She tossed 11.2 scoreless innings in the process in relief. Crooks worked 4.2 hitless innings against Florida Southern and hurled seven innings of four-hit ball against Barry in a 15 inning victory over the Buccaneers.
