Tampa Continues Rise In National Poll
NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its NCAA Division II national women's cross country poll, with the University of Tampa coming in at No. 11, which is three spots higher than it was last week.
The Spartans, who were ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll, have competed in four races in the 2011 season. UT opened the season with a second-place finish at the Early Bird Classic before placing third at the USF Open, fourth at the Florida State Invitational and second at the Lehigh Invitational.
Tampa has now been ranked for a program-record 52 consecutive weeks, dating back to the 2006 season. UT is also ranked No. 1 in the South Region as its men are fifth in the South Region.
The Spartans have also been selected to host the 2011 NCAA Division II South Regional, which is slated for Nov. 5. The race will also be held at Dover Trails.
