Cross County Set to Begin Season

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa's men's and women's cross country teams reported for the 2011 season, with training beginning on Monday.

The Spartan women are coming off a Sunshine State Conference and South Regional championship and will begin the season No. 1 in the South region. The men start the year ranked No. 3 in the South region with hopes of capturing a Sunshine State Conference title.

Returning for the women is All-American Heather Nicolosi, also the SSC and South Region Runner of the Year. The senior from Seminole, Fla., looks to help UT repeat as conference and region champions. All-south region and first-team all-SSC selection Charles Toledo leads the men's team.

The UT Early Bird Classic at Dover Trails is Tampa's first competitive meet of the season on Friday, Sept. 2. The USF Open will follow on Sept. 9 as the FSU Invite is scheduled for Sept. 24th.
