Tony Nicolosi and Charles Toledo Earn All-SSC Honors
ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa men's cross country runners Tony Nicolosi and Charles Toledo were among the seven student-athletes named to the 2010 All-Sunshine State Conference Men's Cross Country Team.
Florida Southern swept the major awards. Ben Martucci was named Runner of the Year, while his coach, Jamie Moreno, was tabbed Coach of the Year. Chris Yanichko was selected Freshman of the Year.
Joining Martucci on the all-SSC team were: Florida Southern's Eric Larson, Drew Martucci, and Jason Patchett-Gillis; Tampa's Nicolosi and Toledo; and Nova Southeastern's Agustin Rey.
Nicolosi became the first runner in UT men's history to be a four-time first-team all-SSC honoree. He finished third at the SSC Championships and also won the UT Early Bird Classic. His 8K time of 24:52.73 at the SSC meet was a personal best as he also placed 11th at the Florida Southern Invite.
Toledo had three top-10 finishes including a sixth place showing at the SSC Championships. He also had a personal best time of 25:14.03 at the SSC.
Voting for the All-SSC cross country team was conducted among the league's cross country coaches and sports information directors.
