Tampa Starts Strong at Spartan Invite
UT wins 200 Free Relay to maintain day one lead.
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's swimming team ended day one of the four-day Spartan Invite as the top team. The host Spartans are among six teams at the competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Tampa led the scoring as it had a top three finish in each of the three events on Friday night.
• The Spartans won the final race of the first day, the 200 Free Relay.
• UT opened the meet with a third place effort in the 200 Medley Relay and also scored on a second-place finish in the 1,000 Free.
TOP PERFORMERS:
• The team of Martin Hammer, Marc-Olivier Caron, Aaron James and Stefano Vrolijk won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:21.24.
• The third place in the 200 Medley Relay was registered by Christian Berg, Vrolijk, Caron and Hammer. They were clocked at 1:30.44.
• Tommy Reminger was second in the 1,000 Free, being timed at 9:16.42.
UP NEXT:
Day two of the Spartan Invite will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the prelims followed by the 6 p.m., finals. Sunday will also have the same times, as Monday's slate has the 9:30 a.m., prelims and 5 p.m., finals.
