Spartans Complete Meet at Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams competed against three NCAA Division I opponents in a Saturday afternoon meet at Florida Gulf Coast. The Spartan men topped Florida Atlantic and Florida A&M as the women were bested by FAU and FGCU while defeating FAMU.

Blaine Bess turned in a first-place performance in the 500 Free with a time of 4:53.90. Daniel Hernandez also won the 100 Fly after a 53.65 mark. The 200 IM was championed by UT's Matt Kramer, who finished in 2:02.43. The Spartans also won the 400 Free Relay as the team of Jeffrey Fiore, Frank Kuchta, Tyler Furrer and Bess finished first at 3:21.62.

Tampa returns to action on Sat., Dec. 13, when it hosts Wright State.
