Spartans Rank No. 7 in National Rankings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team has made an entrance into the United Soccer Coaches Division II national rankings at No. 7, following back-to-back wins over nationally ranked opponents. Tampa also holds the No. 2 ranking in the South region.
In its 2025 season opener on Thursday, Tampa triumphed 3–1 over No. 13 West Florida at Pepin Stadium. The Spartans returned to action on Saturday, defeating No. 21 Auburn-Montgomery by a score of 2-1. The Spartans were led by Sunshine State Conference and National Player of the Week Viggo Svedin, who tallied two goals and two assists across the two games.
No stranger to the national rankings under head coach Adrian Bush, the Spartans last appeared in the top-10 in 2021. The No. 7 ranking represents the highest ranking for Tampa since 2016.
The Spartans travel to Morrow, Ga., for a pair of games this week, beginning with a matchup against No. 13 North Georgia on Thursday. Tampa concludes the week on Saturday at Clayton State, a matchup between familiar opponents and a Clayton State team that advanced to the NCAA National Quarterfinals last season.
