Tampa’s Viggo Svedin Named First D2CIDA Men’s Soccer National Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. – Viggo Svedin of Tampa (SSC) has been named the D2CIDA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week. The senior midfielder from Örebro, Sweden, guided the Spartans to a 2-0-0 start against nationally ranked opponents.

 

Svedin opened the season by dishing out a pair of assists in a 3-1 victory over No. 13 West Florida, setting up goals in the 7th minute and 51st minutes. He followed with a two-goal performance in Tampa's 2-1 win over No. 21 Auburn–Montgomery, finding the net in the 29th minute before delivering the game-winner in the 67th. For the week, Svedin recorded six shots, three on target, across 122 minutes of action.

 

National Players of the Week are selected by a volunteer committee of Division II Conference Information Directors from a pool of nominations submitted by conference offices.
